Our solar electric set-up was scrounged and built for a fraction of the cost of an average system. But we believe there is a better way. We explain the hows and whys.
Virtually all built from scratch. Jeff shows step by step how we modify old worn-out engines to use the wind to pump water.
Use manure to produce gas! We saved a 400 gallon tank from going to the dump and modified it so it now generates bio-gas daily. We use this gas for cooking and powering our gas appliances. Although small, we used a little creative scrounging to build the entire bio-gal plant for about $50.00. Jeff shows the simple fabrication and operation that turns any type of manure into usable flamable gas. It's easier than you think!
Our air compressor is a good example of the non-electric gadgets found at HM Ranch. Thanks to a little creative scrounging this cost less than $50.00 to build.
Another good non-electric example here is this small homebuilt grist mill. We use it to powder alfalfa for use in a homemade chicken food mix.
